Castle Comer is one of those homes that makes us feel rather lucky to do this job. It’s clearly been loved and carefully looked after, and the rooms have a warmth that’s difficult to capture in words. There’s plenty of character, but also more space than you might expect from a period cottage.
Follow the path through the colourful garden to the front door and you’ll begin to see just how much care has gone into the place. Inside, the entrance hall leads to an elegant living room with exposed timbers and a wood-burning stove. We can picture a very comfortable evening here when winter comes around.
The dining room, with its Aga, feels like the natural heart of the home. It leads through to a galley-style kitchen with plenty of cupboard and worktop space, a fitted double oven and hob, and a handy room at the far end that could make a small studio or study. A stable door opens to the rear porch, where there’s also a downstairs cloakroom.
Upstairs was a lovely surprise. The landing is spacious, the three bedrooms are all well proportioned, and there’s a shower room and a separate room with a toilet. The main bedroom also has its own bathroom, complete with a classic white suite and a free-standing bath.
Castle Comer is semi-detached and sits in a private, tucked-away spot near the centre of the village. Its garden is full of traditional shrubs and productive fruit trees, with a greenhouse included in the sale. There’s generous parking for several cars too. For a home with this much character and space, it feels wonderfully easy to settle into.
